AIR QUALITY, AIR CONDITIONING AND UNDERFLOOR HEATING CONTROLS

Air quality is not something that is often considered in a residential scenario.
According to researchers, during 90% of the time we spend indoors, there are unhealthy air factors such as volatile organic compounds, suspended particulates, mold and others entering our trachea and lungs invisibly, and increasing our risk of respiratory diseases, reduced immunity, and cancer. Improving indoor air quality and creating a healthy living space are important keys to today’s architecture.
Using air quality monitoring in residential settings offers several benefits, including:
-
Health Protection – Helps detect pollutants like dust, mold, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide, and allergens that can cause respiratory issues, allergies, or other health problems.
-
Early Detection of Indoor Pollutants – Identifies harmful gases, particulate matter, and humidity levels that could lead to poor indoor air quality.
-
Improved Respiratory Health – Beneficial for individuals with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions by helping them avoid triggers.
-
Mold and Mildew Prevention – Monitors humidity levels to prevent mold growth, which can damage homes and cause health issues.
-
Carbon Monoxide and Radon Detection – Detects dangerous gases that are odorless and can be fatal if not identified early.
-
Enhancing Sleep Quality – Poor air quality can affect sleep; monitoring helps optimize indoor air conditions for better rest.
-
Energy Efficiency – Helps optimize ventilation and air purification systems, potentially reducing energy costs.
-
Peace of Mind – Provides reassurance that the air in your home is safe, especially for families with young children or elderly members.
-
Compliance with Smart Home Systems – Integrates with smart thermostats, air purifiers, and HVAC systems for automated air quality improvements.
-
Long-Term Home Protection – Prevents structural damage caused by excess humidity, airborne chemicals, or poor ventilation.
Our Air Quality monitor connects to our control systems which in turn interfaces to the AC system or "fresh air" circulation system. So, issues with air quality can be diluted by forcing more air volume through the room and then switched back to its normal settings after the level returns to normal.
The monitor detects the following:
-
Carbon Dioxide
-
Temperature
-
Carbon Monoxide
-
Ozone
-
Humidity
-
Fine Suspended Particulates (PM2.5)
-
Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC)
-
Suspended Particulates ( PM10)
The innovative design of our Air Quality Monitor also earns extra points for LEED green building standards and WELL healthy building standards.
Maintaining healthy indoor air quality is essential for comfort and well-being. Our advanced air monitoring software continuously tracks air quality over a 24-hour period, identifying trends and pinpointing times when air quality has declined.
Real-Time Monitoring & Logs
🔹 Track Individual Pollutants – View specific pollutant levels, current air quality status, and historical trends for the day.
🔹 Instant Alerts & Action Logs – Receive notifications when air quality deteriorates and access a log of automated responses.
Seamless Integration with Your HVAC & Ventilation System
If your AC system includes a fresh air intake, that’s a great advantage! If not, our system can automatically switch your AC to ventilation mode to improve air circulation.
Additionally, we can control motorized windows and vents to optimize airflow, ensuring a healthier indoor environment.
24/7 Automated Air Quality Control
By integrating with our smart control system, you benefit from:
✅ Continuous Air Quality Monitoring – Detect and respond to poor air conditions automatically.
✅ Automated Ventilation Adjustments – Control AC settings, motorized windows, and vents as needed.
✅ Security-Linked Operation – If motorized windows or vents are in use, they can be tied to your alarm system status to remain closed when you're away, ensuring both security and efficiency.
Breathe Cleaner Air with Intelligent Automation!
Enhance your home’s air quality and comfort with our smart monitoring and ventilation solutions. Contact us today to learn how automation can create a healthier indoor environment for you and your family.
*The Automation of this product is very much dependent on our software and what we can access to control within your property. It also depends on the type of AC system that you have installed. A survey will be required to ensure that this is feasible, in advance.
Efficient. Elegant. Engineered in Britain.
Efficient heating and cooling is essential for comfort, sustainability, and cost control. However, most conventional systems operate as standalone units, leading to conflicting setpoints between air conditioning and underfloor heating. This not only reduces efficiency but can significantly increase utility costs.
At Integrated System Control, we’ve chosen to work exclusively with Polarbear Design’s thermostats, designed and manufactured in the UK. Their Ursium and Zentium ranges deliver intelligent, flexible control that integrates seamlessly into luxury homes, hotels, and commercial spaces.
Unified Temperature Control
Unlike traditional thermostats, Polarbear’s systems use a single temperature setpoint to coordinate both heating and cooling. This ensures that systems work together, not against each other—maximizing comfort and reducing energy waste.
Advanced Features
-
Dual-Zone Management
Control two underfloor heating zones and two air conditioning zones per thermostat. -
Multi-Device Control
Includes support for towel rails and optional hot water system control. -
Precision Algorithms
Built-in logic minimizes overshoot, saving energy and maintaining stable room temperatures. -
Sensor Integration
Expand the system with additional temperature, humidity, and floor sensors for optimized performance.
Seamless User Experience
Each thermostat features a clean, intuitive interface with real-time room monitoring. From a central touchscreen, users can:
-
View all rooms at a glance
-
Swipe to select and adjust any room
-
Analyze historical temperature trends vs. current performance
No training required—just simple, elegant control.
Form Factor to Fit Any Design
Both models offer identical capabilities, but with different physical designs to suit your needs:
-
Ursium: A beautifully finished standalone thermostat, available in customizable materials such as metal, wood, or acrylic.
-
Zentium: Offers integrated lighting keypads compatible with Lutron and Crestron, making it ideal for control system integration.
Full Smart Home Integration
Polarbear thermostats are designed to work with:
-
AMX
-
Lutron
-
Crestron
-
Other building management systems (via Modbus and other protocols)
Manage your entire climate system from a single control panel or mobile interface.
British Innovation
Designed and manufactured in the UK, these thermostats bring unmatched engineering quality and design flexibility. Whether for a luxury home or a high-spec commercial development, Polarbear Design delivers climate control without compromise.
An example of our Integration of Polarbears Ursium is shown below. On the first image, the "glance screens" have been activated. These can be scrolled through and have permanent live data. Selecting the one you would like to adjust gives you the current data for that room and allows you to make changes. The glance screens mimic the feedback of the thermostats fairly closely, making it easy to get an overall view.
The graphs show you todays temperatures and also a comparison from yesterday
Interested? Are you a company that does not have access to integration but install Polarbear's equipment? We can supply this as a standalone integration, call us.
We are an accredited Polarbear Design Zentum and Ursium Installer. We also have this solution to integrate a whole house solution of thermostats into a touchscreen.
